Default Shifter Kit for automatic Tranny

Hey guys. I'm new to the boards. so just a big shout out to yall 8)

I have myself a 95 Camaro Z28 and its unfortunatly automatic.

One of the car guys at the local coffee shop was telling me about a shifter kit and how it alows me to manually shift the gears of an automatic tranny with the touch of a button, for instance. If I felt the car wasn't shifting fast enough in a race I could hit a button and it would pop up to the next gear.

Now I've had problems racing because the car seems to get stuck on one gear as my opponent blasts away ahead of me. I'm left in his dust with the sound of my engine screaming to be shifted but the auto tranny just wont do it. As of late I've figured it out to a point. I have to release off the gas a bit to get the auto shif to kick in, but that alows my opponent to gain alot of ground on me.

in these situations when the gears need to be shifted and the auto is reacting too slow. I'd like to be able to hit a button and manually shift up. I was told that a Shifter Kit is the answer and that they should only set me back about 200-300 bucks.

but I dont know anything else about them. what they look like. what makes and models are available. what the best ones are. Does anyone here have any suggestions, or links to web pages that explain how these things work?

Caus If I get beat by one more Lexus I'm gonna scream! lol

Thanks alot guys.
Peace

if your trans is not shifting at the proper rpm, something may be wrong with it. or the throttle valve cable could be improperly set, which is what controls how/when the 700r4/200r4 trannies shift.

first of all if its a 95 you shold have a 4L60E now as for shifting If you dont want to install a T-56 heres what you do

first check the fluid make sure it is not misscolord it shold be red and it is dexron 3 aft fluid next the kickdown (throttle valve) then if its not proforming properly get it rebuilt

as for shifting a B&M shift kit will gratly improve your shifting but is controld by fluid in you tranny its about 30 bucks and easy to install and will improve your shifting ets and gasmilege if you need more help just post again

PS LONG LIVE THE F-BODY
