Default Lookin for a restore project/racecar

I recently sold my last car that I was building, and am now looking for a new vehicle to start over with. I was just coming by to ask around if anyone has any pointers on which years are troublesome (if any). I've been told by a friend that the early lt-1 camaros (93, 94 according to him) had some computer issues. He has a 95 (by chance, not choice) so I figure this could just be him talking his car up. I am partial to manuals, but have heard alot of good about Chevy's automatics. I'm not really lookin for peoples opinoins, but they are welcome as I am open minded about this. Simply put, I'm looking for a camaro to build into a 1/4 mile machine, NOT a daily driver. And I figured I would try to find out what others are doing, and whats tried and true. Another thing I was wondering is how "versatile" are the 88-92 body? They look best (IMO) and I was curious if it's possible to drop an ls-1 or lt-1 into them, or possibly bigger? Thanks everyone!

To put it simply, any camaro is a suitable race car. I have seen a variety of motors put into the 82-92 camaros. Only because they have the most space under the hood. The 93-newer have limited space under the hood. But it depends on the amount of work your willing to put into the camaro. So do as you wish, but i'd look for the F-body (82-92) camaro only because they look better!
