ABOUT THIS CAR...
This car originates from Florida and does not have any emissions equipment from the factory. It never did. It has the Original exhaust Manifolds ( Dual Exhaust ) and there are no air injection ports. I guess in Florida, emissions equipment was not required at that time.
This car has Factory, Air Conditioning, Tilt Wheel, Bucket Seats, Console,
Rear Window DeFogger.
This car is all original with only 67K MI. Is mostly Original and not restored. It has not been butchered in any way.
The undercarriage has only a very light coating of surface rust and has no major rust of any kind.
The interior is very close to mint. No Splits or tears. It even smells great..
The body doesn't appear to have any bondo but has been repainted at some time.
The paint is white and in good condition. It shines like new. It is not show quality but great for a daily driver. There are a few nicks but nothing major. There is a small dent on the lower left rear quarter panel ( a mild crease a maybe 4 inches long). Some one has put Plastic Pinstriping on the sides. It appears that some type of moulding was removed and the wide pinstriping was put in place of them?
The vinyl top is original and almost perfect. ( One corner is slightly "turning up"
and needs regluing). The Glass is perfect with no scratches or fading and it actually shines like New.. All of the Chrome shines. The plastic lenses are clear and not faded.
The car has Slotted GM Factory Rally Wheels & Trim Rings and sits on four brand new BFG tires.
I have located a mountain of parts suppliers for this car and it looks like you can get just about anything from a dash knob to an entire rear axle assy. if you wanted it.
The engine was pulled due to oil leakage and was only to be resealed. But, one thing led to another and it was "Freshened Up" with a Complete but "light" rebuild. Crank & Rod Bearings are Std size. The Cyl Bore Remains Original and is only lightly honed to break a slight glaze. No "Ridge" was present or Cut. The Cyl. Rings were hand Fitted & Individually Measured at the standard Factory Bore. (I still have some of the Orig bearings and Piston Rings and other Misc. parts to show the true mileage of this car.) The heads were milled slightly. The Valve Seats were replaced with SS and ground to a 3 angle Seat and all new Guides and SS valves were installed. The Rocker Studs were replaced with "Screw in Studs" and new GM Rockers. A new "low end Torque" cam was installed with new lifters. There is a very "Slight" Lope at Idle and smooths out when in gear. I have installed a Brand New Edelbrock " Factory Matched " Intake Manifold, Cam Kit, and Timing Gear Set. I have also installed, a New Carburetor ( Matching the Factory Stock Unit ) and New HEI Distributor Assy. and a New Radiator with New Belts & Hoses. All of these parts are Factory GM Replacements as I was trying to maintain "Originality". I did't want any "Aftermarket Parts" installed on this Car. I still have all of the original parts such as the Intake Manifold and Correct Orig Carburetor.
The Exhaust is a Dual Flowmaster and sounds Great.
The Trans and Rear are believed to be original ( As per the Orig owner) but this has not been confirmed.
A new high quality paint job would make this car an absolute show winner.
This car is close to show quality and only needs a few things to be a winner.
It has been Garaged for all of it's life and it shows...
From the Overall Condition of the car I believe the Mileage shown on the odometer to be correct and not turned over but, I don't have any documentation to back this up.
This car comes with a clear NJ Title.
Due to the fact this is a rare 72 SS Z 27 with the L/48 Package ( only 5592 units Produced ) I believe this car to be valued at around $15k as it sits. It wouldn't take much to make it worth a lot more...
Asking $13k and will consider offers.
I Can E-mail pics if interested.
