Engine or Fenders first

I have a 69 Camaro stripped to the firewall. Is it easier to put the engine and trans (5 speed richmond and headers) in before the front clip or is it better to do after??

Second how can I tell where to cut the linkage hole in the trans tunnel. I will be having a stock console and I not sure where to locate that either.

Any Help would be appreciated.
